This is a super simple way to make a difference with very little effort. Gather up any non-perishable, non-glass, non-expired, food items. (That's a lot of nons, but non-difficult to do!) :) Put them by your mailbox for your mail carrier to pick up on Saturday, May 12th for their Stamp out Hunger Food Drive. The food will be given to local food banks.
I'm guessing most of us have picked up some deals on food our family doesn't care for or just too much of something. It's a great time to put save those from being wasted or just be generous with items that are in your pantry.
One of the things I can't get over is how little I can spend to save someone a lot! Clean out that pantry and get ready for Saturday!

Vitacost (baby items, vitamins, beauty items, petcare, and more!) is giving free shipping on orders over $25 and $10 off today (5/10/12) only. (The free shipping is today only, but the $10 off is anytime, if you use a referral link.) You must be a new customer to get the $10 off, but anyone can get the free shipping. I've ordered from them in the past and they're reliable and fairly fast!
You could spend $15 and get $25 worth of stuff, shipped free. Take a look and see what you can find! They have quite a good selection of healthier living items.
This is a bit complicated, but if you want to get in "deeper" do this:
- Use this Vitacost link to get the $10 credit (It's my referral link, I will benefit, but it's how you get the $10. Thanks for using it!)
- Sign up for Ebates (new customers only) to receive a $10 gift card from places like Target, Home Depot, etc. Make sure your total, at Vitacost, is at least $25, after the $10 comes off. (You will need to spend an extra $10, but be "getting it back" in the form of an Ebates gift card.)
- Shop through Ebates (do a search for Vitacost) = 8% back (only paid quarterly, after $5, so this purchase will not hit payment threshold. Even if you are already an Ebates customer, shop through them to get the 8%!
You will be getting $35 of products, minus $10 instantly = $25. Plus, you'll get the $10 gift card. In my bargain mind, it's like spending $15 for $35 worth of merchandise. That's a great deal since the selection is so vast! Remember . . TODAY (5/10) ONLY!

National Public Gardens Day is Friday, May 11th. You can get FREE admission to many throughout the country. You need to fill out a form, bring it with you, and you're set. You only need one per party. (I looked at the Desert Botanical Gardens events and it doesn't appear that you need to bring anything with you, but you might want to verity that at the other locations.)
Sorry for the late notice on this. I saw an article in the paper a couple days ago and it's been in my "to do" pile. Thanks for the reminder to post this, Jess!
The six participating Arizona locations are:
Arizona Sonora Desert Museum – Tucson
Boyce Thompson Arboretum – Near Superior
Desert Botanical Gardens – Phoenix
The Rose Garden at Mesa Community College – Mesa (always free)
Tohono Chul Park – Tucson
Tucson Botantical Gardens – Tucson
I hope some of you have flexible enough schedules to take advantage of this. I'd love to go to the Sonoran Desert Museum again, but that would take more planning — maybe next year!

Use this 15% – 20% off coupon at Walgreens on Friday, May 11th. Four will print on a page, but you only need one per transaction, so you can make another three shoppers happy, while you're there. :) Each one is for 15% off most everything (see exclusions like dairy, newspapers, gift cards, etc) and 20% off W brand products.
** Instead of printing, you can text MOM to 21525 "get your coupon and other exclusive offers."
Check out the current Walgreens list to see what you can turn into bigger money makers or save even more!
Helpful info:
* The 15% off coupon needs to be handed over first or the discount won't come off.
* The discount is taken off of the full price and then coupons are deducted. (At least, in the past.)
Great opportunity for money makers since you still receive full Register Rewards!

No matter where you live, I suggest you sign up with Zaycon Foods, if the idea of buying foods in bulk appeals to you. The only emails I've received are regarding events in my area . . . and the one I'll explain below. The more people they see that are interested, the more likely they are to come to your area.

Thanks to Jess, for the information below. She recently moved to Colorado to start an animal sanctuary there. Check out her new Facebook page . . . No Lost Paws. Here's what she says . . .
Maricopa County Animal Care and Control has reduced the adoption fee to $22 through the end of the month for dogs over 3 months old and under 20 lbs.
I've never seen them reduce adoption fees for dogs below $51 with the exception of once when they offered seniors for $17, so I thought this was noteworthy.
