\nWe love having several other families we know that have GetOut passes.  It makes visiting the venues even more fun for my kids … and me!  Planning is simple.  Someone sends a group text to everyone saying when and where they’re going and others jump in if they can make it.  It makes us more intentional about getting together.<\/p>\n

For the Phoenix area pass, there are several venues down in Tucson.  One time, we got together with another family and did a fun little road trip together, something we would probably have never done without GetOut. <\/p>\n

Passes in other regions are similar.  Some destinations are a little bit out of the centralized area, but they can make a fun day trip!<\/p>\n

Extras\/Perks<\/strong><\/em>
\nEvery once in a while, a venue will offer a special discount for GetOut members.  You’ll usually receive an email, though you could ask a local venue if they have an offer.  Often, the offer will be for something like a discount on a special event or birthday party package.<\/p>\n

Renewal price<\/strong><\/em>
\nWhen your passes are renewed, you’ll pay $5 less than the current price they are selling for.  You don’t have to worry about finding a code.<\/p>\n

Did I mention the price!?!<\/strong><\/em>
\nSeriously, do the math.  Even if you only add up a couple of places that you’re guaranteed to visit, you’ll probably see you’re set to save much more than you’ll spend.  Admission to most water parks on the passes is 50%-75% of the total cost, for just to visit once.  Spend a little more and you’ll get all the other fun thrown in.<\/p>\n

GetOut pass warnings & negatives<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n

Auto-renewal<\/strong><\/em>
\nI am not a fan of auto-renewal, but that’s how things like this work these days.  You will receive an email before it renews, but that can be easy to miss.  If you don’t want your pass to continue for another year, make sure you go into your account before your year has ended and stop it.  If you don’t, you will be billed the renewal price. (See below for how to easily turn off auto-renewal.)<\/p>\n

Restrictions<\/strong><\/em>
\nSome venues have day or time restrictions, though many are wide open for visiting anytime.  Make sure you read the details for each attraction and evaluate your schedule.<\/p>\n

There are some that exclude weekends, school breaks, or other selected times.  The vast majority don’t, but look carefully if you are only able to use your pass during school breaks and weekends.  You may find there isn’t enough variety left to make the pass worthwhile for you.<\/p>\n

Equipment or parking fees<\/strong><\/em>
\nMost venues are totally free.  Technically, they all are.  However, it’s going to be hard to rock climb, bowl, or skate without proper gear.  You could bring your own, but if you don’t have it, there are some venues that require equipment in order to participate. Also, there might be an occasional parking fee for some venues.<\/p>\n

The fees are usually minimal, but keep in mind that you’ll probably have some added expenses from time to time.<\/p>\n

Big upfront cost<\/strong><\/em>
\nEven though the price is amazing, it’s a big upfront cost.  Each person needs one, so for a larger family, it will add up quickly.<\/p>\n

If you’re not a saver, you could buy one each paycheck or month (whatever!), using the gift option.  Then, when you have enough for everyone, you can activate them and begin your year of fun, all at the same time.<\/p>\n

Remember to turn off auto-renewal if you don’t want them all to renew in one year, at the same time.<\/p>\n

Your favorite venue could drop off the pass<\/strong><\/em>
\nThe passes are very stable, for the most part.  However, every once in a while a venue will drop off the pass.<\/p>\n

They often email you and tell you it will be gone in 30 days (or whatever time period), so you know you have a limited time to visit.  The warning ahead of time is not guaranteed, though.  Sometimes a venue will go out of business or there’s always a chance a venue will break its contract and decide to stop accepting passes.<\/p>\n

When a venue disappears, GetOut often finds another venue to replace it.  It may not be equal in value or the same type of entertainment spot.<\/p>\n

Keep in mind that you can come out ahead since you can usually visit (or already did) the venue that’s disappearing and you’ll also get any new venues that are added to your pass.<\/p>\n

The bottom line is that there are no guarantees that all venues will be staying on the pass until your expiration date. If you want to be guaranteed a venue will accept the pass, it’s better to go sooner than later.  (Historically, there aren’t a lot of bigger venues that disappear, but it can happen!)<\/p>\n

Not the right venues for your family<\/strong><\/em>
\nLook at each pass and what’s included carefully.  If you know your family doesn’t like water parks, won’t go to sporting events, or doesn’t like museums . . .  the pass may not be for you.  If you end up going to a jump place and bowling once, you’re going to be better off paying for those experiences individually.<\/p>\n

Evaluate it carefully, to make sure it’s something you would use.  Just because something is an incredible value doesn’t mean it’s right for your family.<\/p>\n

Overall, I think the value of the GetOut pass is amazing, or I would quit telling people about the passes.  However, I also realize there are drawbacks.  Depending on what your family will do or not do, the passes may not be right for you.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nYou don’t have to choose between venues.  You can visit all of them at least once, but you’re not getting an unlimited pass to every venue listed.  You are able to visit some locations twice or on a more repeated basis, like every month.  Read the details of each venue carefully since it will vary.<\/p>\n

Does each person need a GetOut pass<\/span>?<\/strong><\/span>
\nGetOut passes are not transferable.  Every person needs their own pass, and you are required to have a name on them.  The reality is that some venues don’t care what name is on the pass.  If you are in a situation where you want to bring a friend and another pass holder isn’t coming with you, you could call the venue to ask if they’ll take it.  I figure it never hurts to ask, but you absolutely cannot count on this.  They are clear that each person needs their own pass.<\/p>\n

Can you use your GetOut pass right away<\/span>?<\/strong><\/span>
\nGetOut passes can be used immediately after purchase.  Download the GetOut app and start having fun right away! (If you don’t want the app, you can log into their website from a browser and still have full access to your passes.)<\/p>\n

Are GetOut passes good for one calendar year or 365 days<\/span>?<\/span>
\n<\/strong>GetOut passes are good for 365 days from purchase (or from redemption, if the gift option is used).  The last day your pass is accepted will be displayed on your pass.<\/p>\n

\nSome GetOut attractions allow you to use the pass during any operating hours, but others have day or time restrictions.  Read the details for each places carefully before making your purchase or visiting.<\/p>\n

\nYou don’t have to keep track of what you’ve done!  When you look at the “GO Activities” tab in your app, you can see how many you have used and how many are left.<\/p>\n

How do you get your GetOut passes after purchase<\/span>?<\/strong><\/span>
\nDuring the purchase process, you will create a login and password.  You will be able to access your pass(es) by logging into their website or downloading their app.<\/p>\n

You will click “Home” to see the available venues in your browser.  Then, you will click “Redeem” and choose which person’s pass(es) you want to redeem.<\/p>\n

Similarly, in the app, you can start with the “GO Activities” button to see the venues and then tap “redeem.”<\/p>\n

\n<\/strong><\/span>Pogo Pass began in Phoenix in January of 2012. GetOut Pass began in 2017.  Both companies merged into simply GetOut in February of 2025.  After about a year (March of 2026), they officially merged their passes into one. <\/p>\n

Can you have more than one GetOut pass<\/span>?<\/strong>
\nYes\/no.  Keep reading!<\/p>\n

You CAN have as many GetOut passes as you want if they’re not for the same region.  They are great for vacations!  There is a toggle option for you to access the passes for each area in the app\/online.<\/p>\n

You CAN NOT have two GetOut passes (with the same name) in the same region.<\/p>\n

If you want another pass in the same region, you will need to change the name a little if you want to use the same email\/account.  Maybe make the pass for J. Smith instead of Jordan Smith.<\/p>\n

You can renew early with the same name(s), but you won’t be able to access venues until your original passes expire. (Note:  This has changed from the way Pogo Pass used to work.)<\/p>\n

\"GetOut<\/p>\n

Do GetOut passes work for adults and children<\/span>?<\/strong><\/span>
\nPasses cost the same for adults and children.  Each pass will get one person, regardless of age, free admission to the venues listed.<\/p>\n

Do two or three-year-olds need a GetOut pass<\/span>?<\/strong><\/span>
\nIf the venue charges for the age of your child, you will either need to pay their admission price or show a GetOut pass to gain entry.<\/p>\n

The general rule is that GetOut passes won’t be beneficial for kids 2 and under, since few places charge admission for that age.  Even if a couple charge, it will probably cost less than it costs to buy a pass.  Most likely, you’ll just want to pay the individual entry fees for a two year old if the rest of your family has passes.<\/p>\n

Three-year-olds are kind of on the border.  Most parents decide to purchase them for this age.<\/p>\n

For any age, if you want to be sure, determine which venues you’ll likely visit and add up what it would cost you to pay for individual admissions.  If it’s more than the cost of the pass, buy them a pass!  You’ll find that it will usually pay off to have a pass for a three-year-old.<\/p>\n

\"GetOutHow do you use GetOut to get into venues<\/span>?<\/strong><\/span>
\nYou can access your GetOut pass via a browser or through their app.<\/p>\n

How does the GetOut app work<\/span>?<\/strong><\/span>
\nYou’ll download the app and log in.  You will be able to access your passes\/barcodes, renew your passes, cancel auto-renewal, change your address, and other basics.  You will also be able to register for sporting events.  If you click on “Usage” you will see the list of venues and how many visits you have used and how many remain.  If you click on the venue, you can see more details like if there are equipment fees, when the pass is accepted, and more.<\/p>\n

Are there any added fees at GetOut venues<\/span>?<\/strong><\/span>
\nYour GetOut pass will give you free general admission.  To enjoy some venues, you need specialized equipment like bowling shoes, grip socks, rock climbing gear, skates, etc.  If your city’s pass includes a place that charges for equipment, it will be listed when you click on the venue for details.  If you have your own approved equipment, you can bring it in and there won’t be any additional fees.<\/p>\n

A few venues have some add-ons or special areas you can choose to participate in, for an added fee.  Those are completely optional and my family has found we can always have a good time without having to spend any extra unless it’s for equipment we don’t have.<\/p>\n

There are some (rare) venues that will also require a fee for parking which is not included with the pass.<\/p>\n

How do you reserve\/get tickets to scheduled GetOut sporting events or other ticketed activities like comedy clubs<\/span>?<\/strong><\/span>
\nThis can vary a bit on each pass and from sport to sport or event to event.  Read the “Details” tab of the event you want to attend.  The “Events” tab is usually where you will actually reserve your tickets, often 2 weeks before the event. Also be aware, that registration could close down 48 hours before the event or fill up, so you need to plan ahead!<\/p>\n

After requesting tickets, you will receive an email with instructions.  Tickets could be at “Will Call” the day of the event, emailed, or something different.<\/p>\n

In some situations, you are able to show your GetOut pass (in app or online) for entry to sporting events, but that is rare.  Unless you click on the venue and it tells you that pre-registration is not necessary (like for some college sporting events), you will not be allowed to enter the sporting event without a ticket.  Make sure you register before the event!<\/p>\n

Historically, GetOut has their best sale around Memorial Day, so you may save up to around $5 extra for the pass you’re wanting to buy versus buying during another “regular sale.”  Overall, prices don’t fluctuate too vastly, so I’d say the best time to buy is when you want to start your fun!<\/p>\n

Do venues ever get removed from GetOut pass<\/span>?<\/strong><\/span>
\nVenues are subject to change, but passes are fairly stable.  Every once in a while, a venue will be removed from the pass.<\/p>\n

It’s standard to get an email telling you your passes won’t be accepted in 30 days (or a shorter time period, sometimes).  That gives you time to go visit.  However, the warning ahead of time is not guaranteed.  Sometimes a venue will go out of business.  There’s also a chance a venue will break its contract or something else will happen.<\/p>\n

What happens if they add a venue to the GetOut pass after purchase<\/span>?<\/strong><\/span>
\nIf a new venue is added before your pass has expired, it’s automatically added to your pass! You can visit the venue right away.  Just make sure you go before your passes expire.  <\/p>\n

\nYes, GetOut passes will automatically renew right before your due date, using the credit card on file.  You will receive email and app notifications beforehand. <\/p>\n

What is the renewal price for GetOut<\/span>?<\/strong><\/span>
\nYou are charged whatever the current sale price is minus $5 for your renewal.  It won’t benefit you go let your passes expire and buy another one.  The exception is if you know you won’t be using your pass for a while and want to have a gap.  You could go buy them again later, using a code to get the same deal.  (Code REVIEW will work for the extra $5 off later — NOT for a renewal.)<\/p>\n

How do you cancel auto-renewal for GetOut passes<\/span>?<\/strong><\/span>
\nYou can cancel auto-renewal in your app or online.<\/p>\n

In your app, go to “Menu” and then “Membership Settings.”  Online, go to “Account” and then “Membership Settings.”<\/p>\n

You can turn off renewal for individual passes or for everyone in your household by clicking the orange button to change the setting.  You can do this at any time before your passes expire, to prevent being charged.  You can even do it the day you buy your passes if you don’t want to forget.  You can always turn it back on later.<\/p>\n

How do I get a refund for a GetOut auto-renewal I didn’t want<\/strong><\/span>?<\/strong><\/span>
\nIf you have not used your passes after they were automatically renewed, contact customer service as soon as possible for a refund.  Their official policy is 120 days.  Fill out the form here<\/a> or email support@getout.com.  If you have their app, go to the “Support” tab and then “Contact” for a live chat or email option.<\/p>\n

Can you renew GetOut passes before your expiration date<\/span>?<\/strong><\/span>
\nYou cannot renew your GetOut pass before its expiration date.  If you want to “reset” venues, you will need to purchase a new pass.  (Don’t forget to use a discount code to save $5.  The code REVIEW will give you that.)  You will also need to choose a new name since duplicate passes aren’t allowed.  If you have a pass for Jamie Jones, you could get another one for J. Jones or you could use a middle name and last name.

Why would I want two GetOut passes?<\/strong><\/span>
\nYou may want duplicate passes for the same region if you want to visit a venue where you have already used up all your visits.<\/p>\n

For instance, if you visited a waterpark in July last year, but want to go again in June this year, you may want to buy a new pass, so you don’t have to pay to get into the waterpark in June.  Just remember that you won’t be able to visit next summer unless you get another pass\/renew.<\/p>\n

Getting passes for different regions can work out great! We love using ours on vacation if we’re spending more than a day or two in the same area.  Sometimes, it can even pay off for a day or two.  When logged in, you can toggle between passes in different regions.
