I recently paid $4.47 for a chicken that weighed 2.69 pounds. I was shocked. I didn’t believe the sticker. I had to go look at my receipt.<\/p>\n
I just paid $1.66\/lb for my rotisserie chicken in Gilbert, Arizona. At first, I wondered, “What happened to the forever-always-never-changing $4.99 price. Rest assured; they’re still usually going to be $4.99.<\/p>\n
The front of the bags say they are 3 lbs. If you get 3 lbs or more, you’ll still pay $4.99. If not, you’ll pay $1.66\/lb.<\/p>\n
Since I paid only $4.47, I can’t complain., right? Or, can I?<\/p>\n
It’s hard to tell what size you’re getting when you grab a bag instead of the good old plastic containers they used to have. I knew this one was small, but I really didn’t have many options.<\/p>\n
I just wish they were the BIGGER than 3 lb birds we used to get, when we paid less than $1.66\/lb, but I guess those days are in the rearview mirror. They’re probably sticking as close to 3 lbs as they can.<\/p>\n

The packaging says it’s 3 lbs. Costco charges $1.66\/lb if it’s less than 3 pounds. Without the adjustment, I guess it would be false advertising.<\/p>\n
I mean, it’s a good thing that I paid less than $4.99 for my 2.69 lb chicken, but it was still a surprise to me. . . . and a little sad that their chickens are shrinking to grocery store sized chickens. I used to be able to count on a big bird, even bigger than 3 pounds! That meant I was paying less than $1.66\/lb.<\/p>\n
P.S. Excuse the empty non-appealing chicken bag, but I didn’t notice it until our chicken had disappeared!<\/p>\n
