World of Illumination AZ 2022 Discount Tickets & Info

Arizona has three World of Illumination drive-thru Christmas light displays for the 2022 holiday season.  They are in Glendale, Mesa, & Tempe, AZ (plus Missouri, Georgia, & Utah).

Discount codes are hard to find this year, but we’ll update here when we see them.  We get their emails & follow their social media, so we will update below with any promo codes they send out.

You can get discount tickets at Costco.  See below for more details.

Reservations for World of Illumination shows will be entirely online for contactless entry.  You will not be able to buy tickets at the gate.

All shows have a drive-thru path that is about a mile long, with millions of lights.  It takes about 20-25 minutes to get through it.

You tune your FM radio to their given station and hear the music beautifully synchronized to the tunes.

They ask that you turn your headlights off and drive slowly.

My family went with extended family to the Tempe location last year.  People of all ages really liked it.  It’s an amazing light show!

Make sure you tune your radio to the right station.  If you don’t see a sign for the correct station for your location, ask someone.  Seeing the lights synchronized definitely adds to the experience.

When we got into the main area some of our teens hopped into my brother-in-law’s truck with blankets.  They loved seeing the lights this way and didn’t freeze.

The only negative to them being in the back of the truck was that even though the truck and our van (following behind) had the windows down, they could barely hear the music.  We felt it was blasting, but they could only barely hear it every once in a while.  If you have something portable that you can listen to am radio on, bring it if anyone will be in the back of a truck.

You will see the huge variety of colors and shapes artistically lit up as the music plays is magical as you weave up and down each row of lights.

You can see a video and get more details on their website here.

All AZ locations will be open from November 16, 2022 until January 1, 2023 from 6pm – 10pm.

Each show has a different theme, so you can visit them all and get a slightly different experience each time!

Does Costco have discount tickets for World of Illumination for 2022?

Yes, Costco has discount passes for World of Illumination in 2022!  They are $34.99 each, and are good for admission any day, but you must make your reservation online after your purchase. You are buying a voucher for getting a reservation online, not an actual ticket.  Make sure you go online after your purchase to choose a date so your desired time isn’t gone.

After purchasing, you will need to visit their website here to reserve a date and time.  You will enter the voucher code you received at Costco and then get a ticket to print or show when you arrive.

DO NOT bring the voucher Costco gives you and expect to get in.  You MUST make a reservation.

If you need the ticket for a specific night, check online first to make sure there is availability.

The voucher you buy is good for

Last year, the processing fee was avoided when redeeming a Costco voucher.  I’m assuming it will be the same this year, so you’ll save even more!  (I THINK I also didn’t pay taxes at Costco two years ago, but I did not verify it for this year.)

If you don’t have a Costco card and want one, here’s a $10 gift card deal for you.  (affiliate link)

Is there a 2022 discount / promo code for World of Illumination?

The discounts come and go and codes change, but use the code MAGICAL20 to save 20% on weekday purchases.  I’m not sure when the code will expire, but it might be 11/29/22. MAGIC

NOTHING BELOW HERE IS UPDATED YET FOR 2022 — COMING SOON!

How do I redeem my World of Illumination tickets?

After your online purchase is complete, you will receive an email.  There will be a link to pull the ticket up on a mobile device or you can print it out.  You will need to show your ticket before your vehicle is allowed to enter the show area.

Is the drive-thru light show a 3D experience?

You can enjoy the show without 3D glasses, but you can buy a 4-pk of 3D glasses for $10 during online checkout.  They will be distributed at the front gate.

Here’s what they say about the added experience:

Be amazed this holiday season as our 3D glasses transform traditional holiday lights, cityscapes, street lights and more into whimsical holiday images. Our holographic lenses bend light, creating a magical musical note, snowman and candy cane image on each bright point of light, providing an optical experience like you’ve never seen before. It’s absolutely breathtaking!

Is the World of Illumination drive-thru show safe and touchless?

Yes!  You will purchase your tickets online.  If you want to hold your printed ticket up to the driver side window for the attendant to see, you don’t even have to roll the window down.

Just make sure you don’t purchase 3D glasses or a snack box.  If you purchase those, you will need to roll down your window to receive them.

All attendants will be wearing a mask.

Do I need to wear a mask for the World or Illumination light show?

All employees will be wearing a mask.  They ask that you wear one if you interact with one.

You will be in your own private vehicle, so unless you decide you want one, there will not be a need for masks during the drive-thru experience.

Will there be food or other entertainment available at the end of the light show?

Due to Covid-19 they will not be selling food on-site.  However, you can order a Santa’s Sweets family box during your check-out process when you are purchasing your tickets.

The snack box is $15 and contains kettle corn, cotton candy, Sour Patch Kids, and Starbursts.

Of course, you’ll be in your own vehicle, so you can bring along whatever food you want!

There will not be any added entertainment at the end of the light show.  You will proceed to the main road after completing the light trail.

If you decide that you’d like a snack pack after you have checked out, you will need to call their customer service number to get it added to your order.  Food will not be for sale at the gate.

Yes!  There won’t be any room for leaving a vehicle behind and combining into another one on site, so make sure whoever will be transfering to the back is in the vehicle before entering the show area.

What if you’re late to World of Illumination or can’t make it?

Proceed to the front gate even if you’re late.  They will still let you in.  You won’t miss anything since it’s a continuous show.

If you are unable to attend on your date, call customer service to reschedule.  The tickets are non-refundable, but they say they will reschedule once as a courtesy.

Here’s exactly what they say, “If you are unable to attend a show at one of our Theme Parks due to an unexpected and unavoidable issue, World of Illumination will offer a one-time rebooking opportunity for a date and time equivalent in value to and in the same season as the ticket you originally purchased.”

Are there bathrooms on-site?

There are bathrooms near the entrance at each location that you are able to use.

Once you enter the light display you will not be allowed to leave your car, so plan accordingly.

World of Illumination will add to your joy this holiday season with the fun, festive atmosphere.

Enjoy!

8 Comments on World of Illumination AZ 2022 Discount Tickets & Info

  1. Does the Westgate location not have an obstacle course?
    Is it $10 per child?

    1. I’m not affiliated with World of Illumination, but I’m pretty sure they aren’t doing it at either location this year, though they had it last year at the Phoenix location.

  2. How do you redeem a voucher or how does it work for world of illumination

    1. For both the Groupon and Costco, there are directions on what you purchase. You will visit their website and enter the voucher number you’ll receive, getting an digital ticket to show at the event. Have fun!

  3. Hi Jill, yes, it is. That area includes the toddler area and then the largest christmas obstacle…(inflatables). Very fun !

    1. Thank you, Frances! I added the in-park price to the post. I appreciate it!

  4. Is that whole area the same as the “obstacle course?” I mentioned (at the very top, easy to miss) that you can get online tickets to that for $6.50. I wasn’t sure what the price would be there. I will add $10, if that’s what you pay when you’re there and I’m not confusing two things.

  5. Just FYI… the location in north Phoenix with the toddler zone and largest Christmas obstacle.. there is a $10 fee to enjoy that feature !!! Still worth it on my opinion!
