Fry’s Fuel Points can be used for Groceries!

This process has gotten easier.  I told you about it before, but you it was a bit of a pain since the program wasn’t rolled out for Fry’s, but it is now!

What can you do with Fry’s/Kroger Fuel Points you don’t use them for gas?

You can now get cash off your grocery purchase at Fry’s if you don’t use the points for a discount on fuel!

Fry’s (Kroger stores) recently started allowing you to redeem your points for money off your purchase instead of just fuel.

How do you redeem Kroger/Fry’s Points for “Dollars Off Groceries” instead of using them for a fuel discount?

If you’re using your Fry’s/Kroger app, tap the “Save” icon on the bottom, then look for the “Redeem Points” icon above.

From the browser on your computer or phone, you will see that same icon on the top without having to navigate to it.

In your browser, this link will take you directly where you need to be.

How do you use your “Dollars Off Groceries” at Fry’s/Kroger?

Once you redeem your points for “Dollars Off Groceries” the savings will be automatic the next time you’re at the grocery store.

You can use your cash discount (“Dollars off Groceries”) in-store or with online purchases. There are some exclusions like alcohol and gift cards.

Below is a screenshot of where you’ll see the discount if you place an online order.

Redeem your Fry’s Fuel points before they expire OR use the $$ off before it expires (same date).

If you wait until the end of the following month to redeem your points for “Dollars off Groceries,” you may only have a very short time to shop and get your discount.

There’s no reason to wait until the end of the second month.  (That’s how long typical Fuel Points last.)

You can always redeem them during the month you earn them, leaving over a month to use them. If you earn more, you can redeem them again.

Your points will “linger” through the month you earned them, and the following month, just as they did for Fuel Points, but one set of points expires a month earlier.

Love this!

I love this option since we have an electric vehicle.  We rarely drive our other vehicle, so it’s not often that we need to fill up.  When we do, we live really close to Costco.  They are often cheaper, even after I factor in my Fuel Points discount at Fry’s.

I know some of you don’t live near a Fry’s Fuel station or like a certain type of gas, so the points have not helped you either.  Now they can!

I’ve been wasting the 2X Points perk of my free Boost membership, but now I can get a couple extra bucks a month. I’ll take it!

Boost members get 2X Points

If you’re a Boost member, you get double Fuel Points.  It’s a paid membership ($69/year for basic), but if you have a Kroger/Fry’s credit card, Boost is FREE!  That’s how I get my extra Points.  They also have exclusive Boost member coupons sometimes, so I get a little added savings throughout the year also.

Check out the other perks of having a Boost membership  (free delivery, 2X points, extra discounts on products are the main ones, but you also get a free 6 month Disney+/Hulu or ESPN subscription).

If you are interested in a credit card, reach out to me (juli @ bargain believer . com — take out spaces).  I believe there’s some sort of referral link I can dig up where we both benefit.

If you don’t pay off your credit card each month or if it entices you to spend more (can use elsewhere), skip it!  That’s not savings, to me!  (I have no idea what the interest rate is since we pay it off each month.)

  1. Doesnโ€™t appear to work with Smithโ€™s points. Circle kept going around saying Redirecting and it kept switching between 2 URLโ€™s. I hope this option becomes available eventually for Smithโ€™s too.

    1. Bummer! I’d try again later, just in case it was glitching. I have no idea if it will work there, but it seems odd that it will work for Fry’s and not Smith’s. Hope it will magically work soon! OR … that they’ll roll it out everywhere and make it simple for us!

    2. Try it again, Janzelle! Shortly after I published this, I noticed that it was an official option at Fry’s. I hope it is also available at Smith’s now without any of the redirection happening!

I just updated with more info and explained how to find the option. Hope you have it!
