My Sister Cracks Me Up ~ Her Bargain Believer Belief . . . Now! :)

I am cracking up at my sister and she said I could share this . . .

She has told quite a few people about Bargain Believer and that they should try it out.  She’s told them that she doesn’t really fully use it, but she has this crazy bargain loving sister that finds deals that a lot of people like.  Well, she never really used it.  Yes, she got the emails and took advantage of a few things on rare occasions, but stress on rare.

Lately, more and more people she shared the site with have been telling her that it’s the best thing ever.  Well, now she might agree!  :)

She works full time and has a busy life, but was so motivated to start that she got all ready on Friday night and went to Fry’s at about 11:30pm — to find out they closed at 11pm.  The fact that it was approaching midnight and she was empty handed didn’t deter her.

She returned home and decided to dig in and make a Walmart list, to try ad matching for the first time.  She made her list, printed and cut coupons, and set out to a 24 hour Walmart in the wee morning hours.  Her cart was overflowing, so she had to stop.  The checkout process was terrible since there was only one lane open.  She kept letting people go ahead of her since she had so much.  She finally jumped in, getting glares from those who came up behind her.  (Let’s just say three talking employees near the front of the lanes didn’t help make her extra happy.  Is it good or bad they they helped out another employee who needed to pay for a Gatorade!?!?)

Anyway, she made it out of there alive and returned home at 4:30am, just as her husband was getting up for work.  He helped her unload the groceries and then she slept for a very short time and faced her Saturday.  She made it to Fry’s and back to Walmart Sunday.  She has now entered the bargain world!

I often get emails asking how to get started.  There isn’t a right or wrong way, but I always suggest starting slowly.  However, if you want to try it during a Mega sale at Fry’s and tackle price matching at Walmart in the middle of the night — go for it, I guess.  Just schedule in some nap time, which she forgot!

I asked her if she’s done with bargains — after the loss of sleep and frustration, but she’s motivated to keep going.  She said she’s more stocked on things than ever and spent less than she normally would have.  She admitted there was a learning curve, but knows it will all go more smoothly next time.  I guess she crammed in one night (or morning!), but has it mostly figured out and is ready to continue the bargain quest.  Personally, I suggest before midnight next time, but what do I know?

The moral of this story — my sister doesn’t believe a word I say, but believes her friends and coworkers.  :)   And, yes . . . I told her that.  Thanks for sharing the website, Lynn, even when you didn’t know how good it was.  I’ll take that as a sign of your love and confidence in your sister, despite what you thought wouldn’t work for you.  The bad news is . . . now, you’re on your own for toothpaste, deodorant, and mustard!  :)

  1. Hi, it’s Lynn (Juli’s sister). Okay, I admit what she says is true :-) Let me tell ya, that was a CRAZY night! All of the GREAT feedback from my Bargain Believer referrals is what got me started on coupons and add matching. After-all, Juli is my “big sister” and I can’t always listen to her :-)

My husband and I work hard for our money (like everyone else) and it’s hard to keep up with the high prices on everything living month to month. I think back to only about 10 years ago. My salary was $30,000; I could get gas for 99 cents gallon, milk for 99 cents, and bread for 99 cents, etc. Now multiply those costs by 3 or 4 and that is approximately what we are paying for those items today. How come my salary isn’t $90,000 – $120,000? Hmmm, that stinks :-( Needless to say, I’m tired of spending money where I don’t need to be spending it.

With couponng / add matching I can help make up some of my salary difference:

    Laundry Detergent (50 loads) $1.99 vs. $6.99
    Watermelon $1.77 vs. $5.00
Dove, Snickers, M&M, Twix Ice Cream Bars $1.49 vs. $5.00
Hefty Slider Bags $1.00 vs. $3
    Free Toothbrush $0 vs. $1-2
    Free Toothpaste $0 vs. $1-2
Free Tostitos Salsa $0 vs. $4

    Need I say more??????

Thank you Juli, for all that you do!

    1. As you know, that’s been my theory “forever.” It’s like a whole extra income for us, tax-free! I don’t like to spend money where I don’t need to. But, you know we can also blow it, give it, and save it . . . when we choose. I like the choice thing and the freedom it allows.

Glad you’re saving and hope it wasn’t just one crazy night! :)

See you soon for our bargain lunch with Mom! :)
