HOW DOES IT ALL WORK AT DAVE & BUSTER’S?
Does Dave & Buster’s have an admission fee?
You do not have to pay to get into Dave & Buster’s. Guests are welcome to come watch others in their party enjoying themselves. Of course, to play games or eat, you will need to pay.
Anyone can go in to just enjoy the food and then leave if they want to.
How much is a game card or Power Tap at Dave & Buster’s?
You have to pay a $3 activation fee for a Power Card the first time you use it, but you will also get 15 chips. Beyond the $3, the cards will cost you as much as you want to spend since you can put any number of chips on them.
Bring a card or “tap” device if you already have one to avoid the activation fee.
You buy chips (points) that are loaded to a Power Card or Power Tap. Chips get deducted each time you swipe or tap the card or device.
If you want a Power Tap (wristband, lanyard, or power wand), they are $10 each. Those will each come activated and you will get 25 chips with it.
How many chips/points do games cost at Dave & Buster’s?
Almost all games at Dave & Buster’s cost between 3 and 10 chips (points), but the majority are in the 5-7 range. Some can go higher than 10, but it’s fairly rare. The most common price for games seems to be 6.8 chips. Skeeball is 2.6 chips. A virtual reality experience can cost 20+ and pricing on those can vary, depending on the time you visit. Sometimes, virtual reality games have to be purchased separately. At Tempe Marketplace, their virtual reality experience is $6 per person.
How much do games cost at Dave & Buster’s?
A commonly priced game of 6.8 chips will cost you 90¢ – $1.36 at Dave & Buster’s.
Chips will cost you somewhere in the range of 13¢ – 20¢ per chip. Chips get cheaper the more you buy. The majority of their games cost 5-7 points, though some games are slightly lower and virtual reality games can be 20+ chips.
The more you spend, the cheaper the per chip price becomes.

165 chips = $30 (18.2¢ per chip)
220 chips = $40 (18.2¢ per chip)
300 chips = $50 (16.7¢ per chip)

550 chips = $75 (13.6¢ per chip)
750 chips = $100 (13.3¢ per chip)
Do Dave & Buster’s game cards or points expire or have a maintenance fee?
Your Power Card at Dave & Buster’s does not expire and there will not be any added maintenance fees. Return later and use any leftover chips. Reward Points expire, but game cards & points do not.
Can you combine cards & chips at Dave & Busters?
You can combine various cards into one if you have chips on different cards. Go to the front desk and someone can help you.
What is Dave & Buster’s “One Last Game?”
If you have a small number of chips left on your card, that isn’t enough to cover another game you want to experience, you can go play a game of skeeball with whatever is left.
You can leave there feeling good, that you squeezed the last ounce of fun out of your time. You don’t have to leave with 1.5 chips that aren’t good for anything. Use it up if you don’t plan to return to reload your card at a later date.
What are redemption games at Dave & Buster’s?
Redemption games are the games you play that you can earn tickets like skeeball or basketball. “Tickets” are added to your card now, so you won’t receive physical tickets.
Non-redemption games are those you play and you’re done, nothing is earned.
Sometimes their deals, especially all-day passes or ones for a certain amount of time, will only include “non-redemption” games. Obviously, they don’t want you to play skeeball for 8 hours and clear out their tickets and all their prizes.
How do you know how many tickets you’ve earned?
You can use your app or head over to the prize area to check the points balance on your card. You can tap or scan your card and the points balance will show.
Physical tickets are not given anymore. They are all loaded directly to your card.
How much are prizes at Dave & Buster’s?
Dave & Buster’s has a very large prize area. Redeem your tickets (all virtually loaded to your play card) for prizes ranging from 25 – 100,000+ points.
If you’re short some points, you can pay $1 to add 100 points. You can’t pay less for a smaller amount. They only “sell” points in increments of 100.
Is Dave & Buster’s a good place for date night?
Yes! There are so many two-player interactive games that make Dave & Buster’s a fun date spot. Of course, you can add in dinner before, during, or after you play games together.
Make it a double-date night for even more fun since there are some 4 player games, and it’s also nice to just hang back and watch those you’re with having a good time.
Can kids under 18 get into Dave & Buster’s?
Anyone under 18 can go to Dave & Buster’s as long as someone over 25 is with them. Each person over 25 can bring up to 6 people under 18. There are many games that kids would enjoy, right alongside their chaperones!
Some locations have a curfew for minors, even up to 21-year-olds. They must exit before 11 pm on Friday and Saturday nights. If you plan to have someone under 21 there beyond that time, give your location a call to see what their specific policy is. Find your location.

Do Dave & Buster’s Rewards Points expire?
Dave & Buster’s Rewards points expire 45 days after you earn them, so make sure you put them to good use before they’re gone.
Dave & Buster’s 1/2 off Wednesday Discount
Dave & Buster’s gives you 50% off games every Wednesday. Games are set to deduct 50% fewer chips each time you swipe your card, so the savings are automatic. Virtual reality and photo booths are excluded. This offer cannot be combined with other game or chip deals.
Go during Happy Hour if you plan to consume alcohol and enjoy a night out for less. (See below for more details.)
When is Happy Hour at Dave & Buster’s & what are the specials?
Happy hour is from 4-7 pm Monday – Friday and 10 pm – 12 am Sunday – Thursday.
There are alcohol deals, but they can vary from one location to another. Call your local establishment and ask about their specials to make sure you know about the current deals. Some locations will give you 50% off cocktails.

Call your location to see if they have an unlimited play offer for a certain amount of time instead of paying per game. Some may do it on certain days of the week or times. It will vary.
Most likely, the offers only include non-redemption games, not games where you earn tickets or virtual reality experiences.

Dave & Buster’s often offers a military & first responder discount of 10-20%. You will need to show your ID at the front desk.
This offer cannot be combined with other offers and excludes Wednesdays when all games are half off.
Not all locations do this. You may want to call the location you plan to visit in order to verify that they’re still doing it and ask what their discount is. Find your location.
Play a game at Dave & Buster’s for 25¢
Support Make A Wish and play an old school game for only a quarter. Make a donation of 25¢, up to $100 for a free round of Pac Mac or Galaga.

Dave & Buster’s College Discount for Tempe, Arizona location
College students & alumni can buy a $20 card and get another $20 card for free each Thursday. Show ID at the front desk for the discount. (Tempe Marketplace’s website said it’s for ASU students, but I called and they said they would honor the offer for any college student with ID. Call ahead to be sure, though!)

Dave & Buster’s has discontinued their Play & Eat specials. They may resume at a later date, but as of now they do not have any specials that I know about.

There is not charge to get in. You pay for each thing you do or eat there.

Is the physical power card activation fee taxed? I’ve never been there. Also, do you have Pokemon cards as prizes? And can you spend chips on food or beverages?

I let a so called friend load her twenty on my card and I had to leave suddenly . She took my card and my 7,000 points and cashed them in . Then she told me they kept my card which I have a picture off ( per suggestion of company). Is there any way to get my stolen points back.

I bought $20 got $20 then with that bought the tap wand for $10 which comes with 25 credits already loaded. That left $30 and I used $10 for a snack and $20 for the unlimited play two kids shared. Mighta been bending the rules but so worth it.

Dave and Busters in Brandon, FL no longer offers military and first responder discounts off gameplay. I was just there yesterday.
Sorry that you didn’t get it there. I advised people to call their location to verify, but I added a line to that post above … that not all locations do it. Hopefully, most locations still do it, but I also hope there won’t be any surprises and people will call. Thanks for letting us know!
Call the location you want to visit to verify, but I’m pretty sure all locations stopped offering that last March. Right now, you have to pay for each individual game. Hopefully, they’ll start up the unlimited play again sometime, but I don’t know.
So what if I want to pay for unlimited play with no restrictions for that day I come how much would it be?
