What are Coke cap codes good for? (Coke Rewards Explained)

The official Coke Rewards program ended in the summer of 2017, but you can still enter codes and get rewarded in a slightly different way.  Redeem codes on Coke’s website or through their app.

Most of their “deals” for entering Coke codes are now for donating to various charities or schools, but you’ll see an occasional freebie or sweepstakes in there as well.

It’s good to have codes on hand, in case a good offer pops up or just to batch your work.  I have a drawer in my kitchen that I throw them in, then they make it to my desk drawer, and at some point and I get to work.

When will entering Coke codes end/expire?

Your Coke codes will only be valid through June 30, 2023.  On July 1, 2023, any unredeemed points will be donated to Boys & Girls Clubs
of America. If you haven’t entered your codes by that time, they are worthless.  The new program does not involve codes.  I called their customer service to verifiy this since I wasn’t 100% sure.  She assured me they wouldn’t be of any use after June 30, 2023.  So, go ahead and toss that Ziploc bag full or clear our your junk drawer!

What is happening to Coke Rewards / Coca-Cala Give program?

Here’s their official statement about what is replacing the Coca-Cola Give program:

Coca-Cola Give is getting reimagined! We are making it easier to support the causes closest to your heart, by simply engaging with us – play games, check-in, and share with friends. Soon, you will be able to support your favorite causes through engagement on +one, a new The Coca-Cola Company platform aimed at bringing brand experiences directly to your mobile device.

Join +one, https://us.coca-cola.com/plusone and stay connected to your favorite brands and causes.

Everything below will be invalid, after June 30, 2023.  It seems like there won’t be any prizes, other than opportunities to donate before that time.  See above.

Where do you find Coke codes?

Most Coke products have codes on them, but not all.  Codes are printed on the inside caps of bottles and on the inside of the cardboard boxes that cans come in.  Some restaurants, concession cups, vending machines, and other products have “Sip & Scan” icons on them that you can scan in your app or from a mobile device, through their website.

How do you sign up for Coke Rewards?

To register for Coke Rewards for the first time, go here.  You can also register through their app.

Go to the top right and hover over the person icon (image above) and choose “Create an Account.”

After you register the first time, look in the “Rewards” tab to discover what you can use your points for.  They don’t change a lot, but new ones pop up from time to time.

What do you do with Coke codes & points?

They say you can get digital gift cards, coupons, tickets, and other prizes when you enter Coke codes.  The reality is that they almost always are only offering opportunities to donate to charities (local schools are included).  This may change in the future, but I haven’t seen rewards “like the good old days” in a while now, with rare exceptions.

How do you redeem Coke codes?

You can use Coke’s app or go to their website to redeem codes.  Check out the “Rewards” tab of their website or the “Experiences” tab of their app.

The only way to get credit for the “Sip & Scan” points or take advantage of offers that require a “Sip & Scan” code is through their app or on a mobile device, through their website.

More specific directions are below . . .

How do you enter Coke cap codes?

  1. Make sure you’re logged (Coke’s app or website)
  2. Website: Go to “Rewards” tab & manually enter code
  3. App: Go to “Experience” tab
  4. Tap offer you want to use points on
  5. Tap “Scan Now” at bottom of offer
  6. Center code in circle
  7. Tap “Scan” or choose “Enter Code” if needed
  8. Points are credited if code is entered/read correctly

Is the Coke app worth using?

Installing the Coke app makes entering codes easier.  It’s not super great at detecting all codes from caps, but it’s easy to take advantage of “Sip & Scan” points.  And, it will catch most of the codes from caps and still save you a lot of time.

They tell you to enable location sharing to get rewarded with geo-located perks.  I didn’t do that, so I’m not sure how effective that really is.  Leave a comment and let us know if you have experience with that.

If you are limited on storage space on your phone and don’t plan to enter a lot of codes and don’t mind doing a few manually, I’d skip the app installation and just use their website.

And, they now have made it so if you’re on a mobile device and log into their website, you can also scan codes.  (I haven’t had any success with it “reading” mine yet, but you can give it a try.  Hopefully, you’ll have better luck!)

What is the value of Coke cap codes?

Entering codes from Coke products results in a donation to various charities.  They are each worth varying amounts of money to each non-profit.  (Occasionally, codes can be used for something else like prizes or entering sweepstakes, but that is rare.)

How much do schools or charities get for Coke caps entered?

Schools & non-profits earn different donation amounts depending on what Coke product codes are entered.  Each code is worth between $0.05 and $0.38.  2-liters and other single bottle codes are worth $0.05 each.  Codes entered from 12-pks of Coke are worth $0.15.

Above is the graphic taken from their website showing the amount you get for each product code you enter.

How do you use Coke caps to donate to schools?

You are able to enter Coke codes to donate to support schools.  Go to the “Rewards” tab of Coke’s website and scroll down to the graphic (pictured above) to support local schools.  Enter your zip code to see what schools near you are participating.

Note:  At this time, the ability to donate to schools is missing for their app.  You will have to use your computer or your phone’s browser to enter codes for schools.

If I missed something or something changes and you notice before I do, please leave a comment below.  Thanks!

47 Comments on What are Coke cap codes good for? (Coke Rewards Explained)

  1. I wish I would’ve read this before installing the app on my phone! Back in 2010-2015, I got some cool and useful stuff from the old rewards program. I drink enough of this stuff and I still have bags and bags of caps and 12/24pk codes that I never entered. This morning I figured I might as well get back on it, only to find out it’s all about making donations. Gimme a break. I’m about to uninstall the app, but now I have a damn account with all my info on there. BS, as was Coke’s decision to change Coke Zero formula a 2nd time last year or so, and it sucks compared to the original and 2nd versions. Turrible.

  2. I always scan the tops as a reward for our school. I have a ton of tops to scan but the app won’t recognize the codes. Any suggestions for me?

    1. I’m having the same problem. Even have keying then won’t work. It’s ADD is I’m entering the wrong code.

      Do the actual codes expire?

  3. Yeah their current system is a crock of BS. I contacted them today asking for some incentive to their current program. I have bags and bags and bags of unused caps and codes from 12/24 packs. I refuse to donate them as I have been saving these for 4 years. I donate enough during the year already. Problem is COKE Corp simply could care less. Their bottom line isn’t hurting and thats all they care about. Good old Corporate Greed at its best.

    1. Agree totally. If Coke (Woke) Corporation wants to make donations, then what is stopping them? Make the freaking donation. I have been participating in the Coke Rewards Bottle Cap program for years and I haven’t gotten a thing out of it, but I still tried. This is the second time they changed the program and it has just gotten worse. Now they have essentially rendered their Rewards program useless and the Coke Rewards site is just a scam to push their merchandise. I used to check it out, but very rarely do these days. I checked it out today. I didn’t even know they had this instant win contest going on. Thing is that I don’t care about movie tickets or the other junk they are pushing, which is just basically Coke merchandise. Coke (Woke) Corporation has turned to crap!

    2. I have a ton too, I miss it. I used to get free 12 packs. It sucks they ended it.

  4. Why waste your time and money if they basically give you nothing. They use to give free coke merchandise. What happen to that?sa

  5. I hope it works

  6. i have 3 bags full of coke caps, i guess i will have to throw them in the trash. it was fun trying to win prizes, but i guess coke doesn’t think so.
i am also going to stop drinking cokes.

    1. Years ago I got some head phones for my tv with codes . Still working today ! It was a huge pain to get a COKE REWARDS CARD to use at machines? At last we got the cards . I stopped drinking coke long ago and lost 51 lbs fast . With coke you need to dig deep to find info on their reward programs ?

    2. Coke always gave away free entries w/o purchase

    3. Only thing you can do is get a few bucks if you sell them on ebay. That’s it!
I pay half the CEO salary with as much Coke that I drink. Use to do the reward program, and get cool stuff.

Now the reward program, is NO REWARDS!

  7. What a shame, a company as large and profitable as coke gives .0.05 to charity.
    YOU should be ashamed.
    I’m quitting coke today.

  8. So much for product loyalty and reward for said loyalty. Coke is a multi-billion $$ corporation. The products have been consumed around the world for eons. We have enjoyed Coke since our ‘sippy cups’ weren’t filled with milk. The shift from rewarding us with prizes / products via Coke Caps to donations to school’s’ concerns many of us. There was a reward after collecting numerous caps and making a ‘purchase’ if there were enough to get the prize. Was the Company losing money because of the prizes? What a shame. Many of us have been collecting caps for a long time. Is it too much to ask to return to the previous prize ‘give away?’ It’s a shame this note will not be seen by ‘management’ to allow them to decide another avenue to follow.

    1. Amen!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾Coke has truly “shammed” its loyal customers!!!

    2. I agree, I have saved up a lot of caps and codes as I remember getting cool and cute prizes. Coke is just another corporation that sold out at their loyal customer’s expense. I will go back to Dr. Pepper Zero and if I can get my son to stop drinking Sunkist, I will. Such a shame!

    3. Coke has fallen to the commie corporation ranks. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Not buying anymore until they come back with the real rewards. I pay $5-6 a 12-pack it was nice to get a little something from Coke with their logo. Their store is loaded with some cute things, just not for their loyal Coke customers. Greed is a savage thing.

    4. Yes you said it right, may quit my coke and spite too

  9. THANK YOU
for cancelling coke rewards. 27 of us collected/ drank but few now as angry.
I discoved Diet Root beer, holds carbonation 500% better than coke. drink few few cokes now. Never TRUST COKE!

  10. This program is awful. No reason to even bother with it anymore. I have a huge stash of #s that are worth nothing. Wish they would go back to the old system. So many points for an item…tshirt etc.

    1. Only thing you can do is get a few bucks if you sell them on ebay. That’s it!
I pay half the CEO salary with as much Coke that I drink. Use to do the reward program, and get cool stuff.

Now the reward program, is NO REWARDS!

  11. This sucks I have about a thousand going back a long way l was finally going to enter for prizes. Most of you say coke quit. Sht sht sht… camel cigs did same to my 3400!*

  12. Heck yeah i have bags of these caps and didn’t know they changed the program. I’m not giving my sh*t to f*** charity. Do you know how many ways I donated to st. Judes and other charity. I will not save this trash no more! I’m pissed too. I will complain to them too. Make sure you do.

    1. … and why would I take the time to enter the codes, which is a pain in the butt to start with, for it to go to some charity??? That is so stupid. I know this has been going on since the pandemic, but I always thought they would change back eventually. This is such a scam.

  13. code us not active. Promotion not started yet. is the message U keep getting….

  14. I until you changed to this program always sent in numbers & letters. But I couldn’t figure new one so I have 3/4 32oz plastic kids candy containers filled with bottle caps & strips from 12 packs off coke boxes. About 2 years old each. So what do I do with them.
    Photo included.

    1. I’m not affiliated with Coke or Coke Rewards. I was just reporting on their program. You’ll have to contact them directly. Sorry!

    2. Send them to me!

  15. The new Coke Reward program is a sham. They took a program that millions enjoyed and reduced it to something that is less desirable. I think they used the charitable contributions to boost there image and make those of us who used the program feel bad as if we are lesser because we don’t share with charitable organizations. Which is bogus as I contribute to charitable through other organizations that I chose. Bring back the old program or I will just chose to not buy Coke products.

    1. This feedback will not get directly to Coke since I’m not affiliated with them. Please contact them directly if you want your opinion to be heard. I miss the old program too!

    2. Heck yeah i have bags of these caps and didn’t know they changed the program. I’m not giving my sh*t to f*** charity. Do you know how many ways I donated to st. Judes and other charity. I will not save this trash no more! I’m pissed too. I will complain to them too. Make sure you do.

    1. Thanks for letting us know about that. My Coke codes entered fine today, so maybe they fixed something for everyone or maybe some individuals will still need to contact them. Glad yours are working now!

  16. I too am getting “Code Expired” whenever I attempt to enter a code from a coke 12-pack. This problem actually started a few days ago, but I thought it was just a temporary glitch but when I tried again today to enter codes, I again got the “expired” message. These codes are from packs purchased in the last two weeks and so they should not have already expired.

    1. I wonder if there was a glitch that lasted longer than a few days. I just tried entering old codes I have and they all went through. If you are still having troubles, I would contact Coke Rewards directly. I’m not affiliated with them. I only wrote this for people to learn about the program. Good luck!

  17. Tried entering recent caps and every code is showing “expired” (Note: not invalid). Was there a recent expiration date on entering cap codes. Today is 12/31/21, and I didn’t want to just toss them out if they are still able to enter. I usually donate points ($) received form them. (Happy New Year!)

    1. Sorry that I’m so slow in replying to this. I am not affiliated with Coke Rewards in any way, but someone said they contacted them and it started working. It just worked for me, so I didn’t need to take that step. Hopefully, it was just a glitch and is working now and you won’t have to contact them. But, if you do, I hope they can help you!

  18. How come the stopped the rewards program for earning park events, movie tickets, etc. I have at least 8- to 10 Thousand Caps that I was going to start claiming.

    1. I’m not sure. I’m not affiliated with Coke, just reporting on their program. I wish it was like it was before!

    2. 8,000-10,000 caps??? stop buying. Coke won’t be having rewards anymore.

    3. I am unsure of their reasoning since I’m not affiliated with them. Every once in a while they still have movie tickets and other prizes available, but it’s been a while and had been rare. Sorry that you missed out! If you want to give your feedback to Coke, make sure you contact them directly.

  19. So, does Coke Gives still send checks to the school that have a balance? If so, then when does each quarter end?

  20. Thanks for the heads up. I always forget to check this site! I didn’t have the $2 Amazon offer on my app so I headed to the website. As of 4:19p, the 82% of the 25000 to unlock the $2 gift card.

    1. Glad you got it in time! I never remember to check, either. Amber (who is the admin for the North Valley page and in Beyond!) is the one who is my lifeline to these deals. Every once in awhile, I’ll get an email from Coke about them, but it’s rare. I sure wish the deals came along more often than they do. But, we’ll take what we can get! :)
