Free Redbox Rental Today

redbox

Head over to Redbox to get a free dvd movie rental today, Thursday, 10/23.

Use promo code:  UNM8BB66

I tested it online and it worked.

I’m not sure if it will work directly at a kiosk or if it’s only online reservations.
If you find out either way, please let us know.

We’ve also heard you can use these codes up to five times on a credit card that you’ve used before and three times if it’s a new credit card.
You just need to check out separately for each one.
You can give that a try, if you want a movie marathon!

(Thanks, Free Stuff Times!)

Additional Ways to Save With Snap, Checkout 51, Ibotta, Shopmium and Saving Star

snap

Snap is the newest phone app that you can use and get future cash back.  It’s similar to all the other money saving apps.

  • Snap will work at any store.
  • Cash out once you reach $20 in savings.  You’ll get a check.
  • Sometimes, they will even let you get multiples of one item and get multiple savings.  The limit is listed on the offer.
  • Will work on smartphone, tablet or desktop computer.
  • Offers can disappear at any time when they reach their max.

Head to Snap to download the app or you can read more about it in their FAQ section here.

————————————————————————————————-

checkout_51_002

Every Thursday, we have new Checkout 51 offers.

Are you using Checkout 51?  Here’s all the info about this program.

There are new offers every Thursday. From what I can tell, the first 3 or 4 offers are the same for everyone. After that, they may vary slightly depending upon if you redeemed an offer, etc.  Remember on the produce offers, you don’t have a minimum to buy. You can buy 1 apple or 1 banana and get the money back.

What I like about Checkout 51 is it’s good at any store. I wish they had more offers though and were more consistent. Susan got an offer for strawberries last week. I didn’t. If you don’t redeem an offer it will sometimes carry over from week to week, but there is really no way of knowing if an offer will expire Wed. night or not. I’ve had All Detergent on mine for going on a month now. That’s good and maybe not so good. If I redeemed the All, would I have maybe gotten the strawberry offer? Maybe. Maybe not. It’s still a great way to save. You can also combine this with offers on ibotta or Shompium. They are different programs.

Here’s what they say about their program:

Checkout 51 is the easiest way to save money on the brands you love! We’re currently saving over half a million Americans and Canadians money every day and have much larger plans for expansion!

All our members have to do is follow these simple steps:

  1. Browse the offers that are updated every Thursday
  2. Buy the products from any store
  3. Take a photo of your receipt to redeem your deal
  4. Get cash back!

It works on your iPhone, iPad or Android device. You don’t have to have a portable device though. You can use it with your computer and you just need to take a picture of your receipt with a camera. (Thanks, Cherie!) You have to reach $20 in savings to get payout, and they will mail a check to you. If you are a new member, the first receipt over $20 that you scan in will earn you $2 back!

So, go here to sign up and start saving today!
——————————————————————————————————
ibottaIf you haven’t tried ibotta yet, you really should give it a shot. If you are loving it like we are, they just added several new offers. They also offer bonuses sometimes, like redeem the milk offer and 2 others and get an extra 50¢.

Here’s how ibotta works:

Take a look at the offers on ibotta and do the simple tasks to earn the full reward money.

When you get home, just clicked on the deals you want to redeem. The app will prompt you to take a picture of the receipt and then go to the products and scan the barcodes. Done! You’ll get a confirmation email saying it was accepted, in much less then the 24 hours they say. Money in your pocket! Easy!

If you have an iphone or android you MUST sign up for this! This is an exciting new way to save. It’s on top of coupon and sale savings!

Here’s the summary of the program:

You can download the app ibotta for your android or iphone. It also works on ipad2 and 3, I believe.

You can use it as stores like Fry’s, Target, Walmart, Walgreens, etc. (Albertsons is not included yet).

So, what is it?

Then:

  • Choose your offers before you shop or even in the store
  • Take a picture your receipt
  • Scan the UPC code of select products, with your phone
  • Once you hit $5, you can request a Paypal payment or donate to a school

Deals can vary slightly but most are the same.
———————————————————————————————————

shopmium

If you like Checkout 51 and Ibotta, you may want to try Shopmium. It’s a new way to save on top of sales and coupons.

It works like this:

  • Choose an offer in the list and find it in your regular store. They list stores that have it, but any store that has a computer generated receipt works (which is pretty much everywhere now a days.)
  • Buy the product and keep your receipt.
  • Ask for your refund by scanning the barcode and take a picture of your receipt.
  • Receive your refund via paypal or bank transfer or give to charity!

That’s it. Some perks of Shopmium is that you don’t have a minimum cash out value. I just redeemed two offers and they went straight to my paypal account! I love that I don’t have a $5 or $20 minimum to payout. If I don’t like it or don’t like the offers they have, I’ve lost nothing.

It works on iPhones or Android devices.

If you’d be kind enough to enter Juli’s referral code, she’ll get $2 per new user when you redeem your first offer! You’ll also get an offer for a free Lindt Chocolate Bar when you use her referral code. Win/win! This is a small way that Juli get’s paid, so that she can pay the rest of us to keep this blog going! We’d all appreciate it.

Download the app on your phone here.
Please use referral code: GCCGAUVL

savingstar_logo

Saving Star has made some changes recently and they are now more like the other programs above.

  1.   The savings at Fry’s will no longer be automatic.  You will need to scan your receipt to get the credit into your account, starting 10/1/14.
Register and then you can submit receipts/UPC images online or through their app.  You will also need the product’s barcode.

And, there are a bunch of retailers added, that will take scanned receipts.

  1.   The Arizona stores that participate are Fry’s, Safeway, Bashas, Food City, Albertsons, Walgreens, CVS, Target, Kmart, Dollar General, Family Dollar, WinCo, Costco, & Sam’s Club.  There’s a complete list here.

Here’s the general information, if you haven’t used Saving Star before.

With SavingStar, you can save eCoupons to your grocery store loyalty cards or to your Saving Star account and get credited when you swipe your card at checkout or when you submit your receipt online or through their app.  The savings doesn’t come off at the register, it gets credited to your SavingStar account, within a week or two.  (Their official time is 2 – 22 days. )  If you scan your receipt, you have until three days after the offer expires.  You can request your payment via Paypal, bank deposit, or gift card when you reach $5.

The only “automatic” stores in Arizona are CVS and Bashas’.  You will enter the store’s loyalty card number once and savings will trigger whenever you use your card and buy the specified products.

There is a “Healthy Offer of the Week.”  Every Tuesday a new coupon is available to load for fresh produce.

They also have one item each Friday that you’ll get 100% cash back!  You have through Sunday to make your purchase.

The Arizona stores that participate are Fry’s, Safeway, Bashas, Albertsons, Walgreens, CVS, Target, Kmart, Dollar General, Family Dollar, WinCo, Costco, & Sam’s Club.

Before the receipt scanning was needed, I just loaded everything and considered anything I received a bonus.  Now, it will take more effort and planning.  It will be easiest to head to CVS or Bashas’ for the Friday freebie, if that’s convenient and you need other items there.

Saving Star savings is not meant to be combined with paper coupons.  Here’s their official statement on that:

SavingStar eCoupons will work whether or not you combine them with other services’ coupons, but they are not intended to be used this way.  Generally, manufacturers state that it is against their policies for shoppers to redeem more than one manufacturer’s coupon for the same purchase.  Using in-store coupons in combination with SavingStar eCoupons is not a problem.  In the future, we may implement mechanisms to limit the combination of SavingStar eCoupons with other manufacturer coupons.

Lower Cell Phone Bill & Other Monthly Expenses ~ Possibly Just Ask! (Juli’s Cox Success Story!) :)

cox_logo

I haven’t posted this for awhile.  My success this morning prompted me to do it again.  Here’s my story, if you have time to read it . .    :)

My husband has started working from home a lot.  This morning, he asked if I could call and bump our internet speed up.  I took that as a challenge to increase our speed AND pay less.  :)

I called Cox and told them I was shopping around and wanted to know the lowest rates they could offer.   I said that I felt like I was paying too much and it wasn’t very fast.  They acted like they couldn’t work with me since we don’t have cable (or want it).  Bottom line, I could bump up my speed but it would cost me $5 more per month.  I told them I was still shopping around.  Part of me was thinking $5 wasn’t bad, but I also felt like the guy wasn’t fully engaged or caring about digging deeper for rates.

I hung up and called the same number again, right away.  I gave the next guy the same spiel.  It was a short call and I’m paying just about $2 less each month, instead of paying $5 more.  That’s not a huge savings, but I’ll take an extra $7 in my pocket each month.

Gina had some significant positive results when she called around recently.  I highly recommend you do the same.

Here’s what I’ve posted before.  I’m just going to copy it . . .

Call all the places where you pay a monthly service.  Tell them you are trying to lower your monthly bills and that you’re calling around to get rates.  Tell them you want the lowest price they can give you, so you can do a comparison.  You’ll be surprised that you may get it lowered!

Beyond that, a favorite of mine is Republic WirelessTheir 3G plan that has unlimited everything is only $25 per month!!  I can’t believe what people pay for cell service.  It blows my mind.  (Their fine print says if you use more than 5GB of data in a month, they’ll slow you down.  They’ll also “forgive” you once every 6 months.”)

My husband uses their $10 per month plan and loves it.  He has unlimited calls and texting.  For that plan, you won’t have 3G, but you can connect to any wireless network.  The best part is that you can switch to the 3G (or any plan) and get a pro-rated rate, whenever you need it.   That’s true with any of their plans.  I know the $10 plan isn’t for everyone, but it also may be just what someone is looking for.  You can see their various plans by clicking “plans” on the top menu bar at this link.

Currently, I use Virgin Mobile, but I really can’t recommend them, due to several customer service issues I’ve had with them over the past two years or so.  But, they have similar pricing.  Be prepared to pay for your monetary savings in time on the phone and frustration, though.  :(

Both require you to purchase the phone, but don’t have any contracts.  (I will probably switch to Republic sometime, but I can’t rationalize paying for a new phone when mine is fairly new and works fine for what I need.)

Most of you are probably under contract now, but tuck the information away for the future.  I’ll try to remember to remind you from time to time.  :)

Note:  There are similar plans the above out there, but thee are the ones we have the most have experience with.

And . . . don’t forget to call your other monthly service providers . . . insurance, TV, home phone, internet, cell phone, energy provider (SRP or APS), newspaper, gym membership, and ??  You’ll know what they are — the ones that kill you to keep paying more than you like . . . every single month!

Note:  Kelly, reminded me . . . ask APS or SRP if you think you might qualify for a discount, due to low income.  It’s worth asking and seeing if you qualify! (Thanks, Kelly!)

Note:  As I finished this post, it hit me that I might be able to become an affiliate with Republic Wireless.  I looked and they have a program.  I just wanted you to know that I will receive a commission if you sign up with my link, but that was not my original intent in sharing this information.  I’m still amazed that I can share so many deals that I think are awesome — and get paid!  Thanks for using my links.  It helps support everyone who works hard on this site.  It’s the only way I can keep all this going — too much work for me to do alone!  Your support is appreciated!

FREE Fall Festival on Friday in Tempe ~ Dinner, Games, Candy, Bouncers, Etc!

grace_festival

We go to Grace Community Church in Tempe, AZ.  (Off Southern, between Rural & McClintock)

There is a really big, fun event this Friday, October 24th from 5:30 – 9:00pm.  It’s our fall festival and carnival.

Everything is free!  I’m not 100% sure what will be there this year, but it will be the same or similar as last year.  Here are some things I remember about last year . .  .

ALL FREE!

  • Dinner (hot dogs or hamburgers)
  • Ice cream
  • Snow cones
  • Bouncers
  • Cotton candy
  • Popcorn
  • Hayride
  • Games (candy as prizes)
  • Petting zoo
  • Climbing wall

You can wear costumes or come without them.  In the past, they’ve asked that costumes are tasteful and not too scary.  There are many little kids who come to have fun.

If you stocked up on candy, during that super sale at Fry’s, they’re still taking candy donations that night.   It’s not necessary to bring any, though.  Just come and enjoy!

Grace Community Church

1200 E Southern Ave.

I know there are a lot of churches that have similar events.  If yours is one of them, feel free to leave the details in the comments so people know of other options out there.  Thanks!

chickfila_thurs

Chick-fil-A locations in AZ are giving away free breakfast on Thursdays in October.

Thursday, Oct. 16th – 3-ct Chicken-Minis
Thursday, Oct. 23rd – Chicken Biscuit
Thursday, Oct. 30th – 3-ct Chicken-Minis

I haven’t verified that all AZ Chick-fil-A locations are participating, but I’ve seen it on several of their local Facebook pages.   It also said “all Phoenix area location”) on their flyer.  I also found it on Tucson’s, El Con location, so it might be everywhere.  If your restaurant isn’t listed below, you can either call or find their Facebook page.  Leave us a comment if your location is also included, but not on the list!

These are the locations that I’ve verified it for, from their Facebook pages:

Arrowhead (Thanks, Emily!)

FREE Shipping at Target (No Minimum!)

target_free_shipping_001

You can get FREE shipping at Target, even if you’re not a Target card holder.  There is no minimum!   (You will pay for shipping on oversized items, but everything else is free!)

Check out the clearance and sale section since those orders qualify.

Note:  If you have a debit or credit card from Target, you can get free shipping anytime and you’ll also get an extra 5% off.

I’m not sure how long this lasts.  It says “for a limited time.”  If you find that it’s ended, please leave a comment.

Here are two additional codes you can add for greater savings:

CARE5 – Free $5 gift card when you spend $15 on select Personal Care & Beauty items (valid 10/19 – 10/25)

CHILL10 – Save 20% on Outerwear & Accessories for Kids, Toddlers & Babies + save an extra 10% (valid 10/22 – 10/25)

Those are the only codes I could find that are active, but there are a bunch of other sales going on.  Check out their website for details.

If you find a super buy, leave a comment and let us know what it was!

Save even more!

The best way to do it is to start at Ebates.   That way, you will earn an additional 2.5% rebate (to cash out when you hit $10).  Even better . . . I also think you will earn a $10 Target (or other) gift card, if you are a new customer, placing an order over $25.  (I can’t verify this since I’m an existing customer.  If you verify, please let us  know.  A couple months ago, the promotion was still going.)

Then, from Ebates, search “Target.”  Click through to Target’s site, from Ebates, and you’ll do everything like you would if you went directly to Target.com.  (Make sure you are in the tab that opens up from Ebates or you may not get credit.)  Hopefully, you’ll see a $10 gift card show up in your account or mailbox soon!

Here are the details on the Ebates bonus at Target:

2.50% Cash Back on Apparel & Accessories, Baby (except Baby Care), Sports, Outdoors & Luggage, Health & Beauty, Home, Outdoor Living/Patio, Design Collaborations

1.00% Cash Back on Electronics, Toys, Movies, Video Games, Books, Music, Entertainment

No Cash Back on Apple products, Grocery, Baby Care (diapering, feeding, toiletries), Gift Cards & Prepaid Cards

Arizona Walmart Ad Matching List ~ 10/22/14 – 10/28/14

We’re switching it up a bit with the Walmart list.  We’re going to list it by store.  We’d love your feedback, but realize we can’t please everyone.  :)  But, if an overwhelming number of you hate it, we’ll go back to mixing all the stores together.  My thinking is that you will be able to quickly skip the stores that aren’t in your area and won’t waste your time looking through things you don’t need to.  Again, I’d love your feedback . . . either on Facebook or by commenting below.
